Description

In this middle-grade adventure, Tyler, a shy gamer who secretly becomes the heroic Gamer, must stop Cynthia Cyber's plan to unleash the Terror Beast from the digital world onto Crescent City. The creature spreads nightmares throughout the city, and only by confronting his own deepest fears can Tyler hope to defeat it. The story blends action, suspense, and a touch of digital magic, while including mild violence.

Quick Summary

If you know a kid who loves video games and superhero adventures, this one's a quick, fun ride. The story follows a gamer kid who has to step up and face a digital monster threatening his city, and what makes it work is how it taps into that real feeling of having to conquer your own anxiety before you can actually defeat the bad guy. It's incredibly short (less than a thousand words), which makes it perfect for reluctant readers or anyone who wants something fast-paced they can finish in one sitting. There's mild violence from the monster showdown, but it's handled pretty lightly and never gets too intense. Shawn Pryor keeps the energy fun and modern, with a plot that feels like a video game quest come to life. Kids who enjoy Diary of a Minecraft Warrior or short graphic novels will likely gravitate toward this one, and parents can feel good about handing it over since the message about bravery is solid without being preachy.
