Quick Summary

If your kid loves superheroes but sometimes gets intimidated by really long books, this one is perfect it's short enough to finish in a sitting or two, but it's got all the Justice League action they could want. The story kicks off with Batman bringing a new recruit into the group, and then things get really interesting when the heroes start losing their powers one by one, which makes for some pretty tense moments as they have to figure out what's going on. What I love is that even though it's a quick read, there's real heart to it the characters work together and show real courage even when they feel completely vulnerable, which is a great message for kids. Fans of the LEGO Justice League movies or any superhero comics will recognize their favorite characters right away, and younger readers who might be stepping up from picture books will find the language accessible without feeling babyish. There's a bit of mystery to solve alongside the heroes, which keeps things exciting, and the ending leaves you feeling pretty good. If your reader enjoys this, the other DC chapter books in this series follow the same formula short, punchy adventures with lots of superhero camaraderie.
