Description

Carl is an earthworm who happily tunnels through the soil until a field mouse asks him why he does this. Unable to answer, Carl embarks on a journey through the forest to ask other animals about the meaning of their lives. He discovers that each animal knows its purpose, and through his adventure, Carl comes to understand his own role in the ecosystem.

Quick Summary

This sweet story flips the script on little creatures by giving an earthworm a big philosophical question, making it feel like a nature documentary meets a picture book. Kids will giggle at Carl's worried expression as he travels across the meadow asking birds, rabbits, and other critters about life's purpose, and they'll feel warm inside when he realizes his underground work helps grow everything around him. If your kid likes "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" or "The Little Seed," they'll definitely connect with Carl's gentle journey. Perfect for kindergarten through second grade, especially for readers who enjoy books that mix humor with a quiet message about belonging.
