Quick Summary

Music and Malice in Hurricane Town drops you into a rain-soaked Gulf Coast town where Jude suddenly becomes the living host for the legendary cajou queen's soul and is forced to hunt down her killer, all while the town's own secrets unravel around her. The story mixes a gritty murder mystery with a pulsing soundtrack of bayou blues, giving the investigation an almost visceral rhythm that pulls you in. It's an intense, unflinching read expect brutal violence, graphic gore, scenes of self-harm, animal cruelty, and plenty of profanity so it's best for older teens who can handle dark material. If you've ever been drawn to the Southern-gothic atmosphere and hidden-secret plots of Maggie Stiefvater's Raven Cycle, you'll feel right at home with the eerie, music-laden vibe here.
