Description

Lulu spots her neighbor's rabbit sitting alone in a bare cage and worries the animal isn't getting the care it needs. Together with her cousin Mellie, she hatches a scheme to show the neighbor how much fun a rabbit can be, hoping to convince him to give his pet more attention. Their plan leads to a series of lively misadventures that teach the girls about friendship, responsibility, and the joy of pets. It's the fourth book in the series.

Quick Summary

If you've got a kid who thinks they're an expert on everything, they'll crack up watching Lulu try to teach her rabbit-phobic neighbor why having a bunny is actually awesome. The story's got this funny, stubborn energy as Lulu hatches one plan after another to convert her skeptical neighbor, and there's enough heart underneath the humor to make it actually sweet by the end. It's perfect for kids in K-3 who are ready for chapter books but still want something quick and accessible, and at just 8,000 words even reluctant readers can finish it without getting exhausted. The book doesn't hit you over the head with any lessons, but there's a nice message about seeing things from someone else's perspective hidden inside all the silliness. If your kid likes "Mercy Watson" or other early chapter book series with funny animal characters, they'll probably gravitate toward this one too. It's the kind of quick, light read that works equally well for reading aloud together or for kids reading solo, and it's a solid choice for anyone who loves pets or has ever tried to convince someone to like something they think is amazing.
