Quick Summary
If you're a teen who's ever felt like grief just completely upended your world, this one will hit hard. The characters in this book are dealing with the aftermath of losing someone close, and Wasserman writes about that raw, messy sadness in a way that feels completely real you're right there with them as they stumble through school, friendships, and trying to pretend everything's normal when nothing feels normal anymore. It's part of a series, so if you read the earlier books you'll have more context, but it works fine on its own. Parents should know this one has some strong language and deals with mature relationship stuff, so it's definitely better suited for older high schoolers rather than younger teens. That said, for kids who appreciate honest, sometimes brutal YA fiction about tough topics, this is the kind of book that stays with you. Fans of other emotionally intense contemporary YA like Thirteen Reasons Why will probably dig this.
