Quick Summary

If your kid loves silly animal adventures with a lot of heart, this one is a fun pick. The sheep from the first book are back, and this time they're heading to Las Vegas to stop a truly bizarre monster called Red Tongue from threatening all of sheepdom, which gives the story a wild Western-meets-quirky-science vibe that's hard not to enjoy. There's real momentum here too along the way Tod and Gran get thrown in jail, a crazy scientist is on their tail, and the sheep have to pull together in ways that feel satisfying rather than preachy. It's a quick read for the grade level, sitting around 35,000 words with an AR level of 4.8, so it works well for middle graders who want something entertaining without being a massive commitment. The humor walks a line that's genuinely funny without being scary, making it a good fit for kids who like a little tension but don't want anything too intense. Fans of books like "The Last Kids on Earth" or any adventure where goofy characters end up in seriously weird situations will likely click with this one, and it's especially great for reluctant readers who want something light but still has real story stakes. The co-author dynamic between Christine and Christopher Russell also gives the book a playful tone that feels like it was written by people who actually find kids funny.
