Description

Ronan Lynch, a dreamer who can pull objects from his dreams, and his partner Jordan Hennessy must master their dangerous powers before the destructive dreams they create spiral out of control. A relentless government agent, Carmen Farooq-Lane, hunts dreamers, convinced their abilities will trigger a prophesied apocalypse. The novel mixes high-stakes fantasy with a tense cat-and-mouse pursuit as the two sides clash over fate and free will. It is the first book in a series.

Quick Summary

If you were obsessed with *The Raven Cycle* (and let's be real, a lot of people were), this is basically the spinoff you've been waiting for. Ronan Lynch is back, and he's trying to figure out how to use his dream powers without destroying everything around him, while also keeping his mysteriously powerful new partner Jordan Hennessy safe. There's a seriously intense government agent hunting down people with abilities, which adds a thriller vibe that elevates this beyond typical fantasy. The book has that signature Stiefvater prose that's equal parts lyrical and grounded, and the characters feel real in a way that makes you genuinely care about what happens to them. Fair warning though it ends on a major cliffhanger, so unless the next book is out, prepare for frustration. If you liked the magic system and found-family dynamics of *The Raven Cycle*, you'll find a lot to love here, though this one leans darker and more intense. Kids who appreciate morally gray characters and don't mind some strong language will probably devour this.
