Quick Summary
If you've ever worried about a friend who suddenly seems distant or sad, this is the book for you. When Erica starts pulling away from her group of close friends, they don't just shrug it off they actually do something about it, which is what makes this story really stand out. It's a quick, easy read that shows kids what it looks like to be a truly good friend in a tough situation, and it handles the bullying theme in a way that feels hopeful rather than heavy. Kids in grades 4-6 who like stories about friendship drama will probably fly through this one, and it's especially good for reluctant readers who might feel intimidated by longer chapter books. There's a warm, satisfying message about loyalty and speaking up for the people you care about, without getting preachy about it. If your kid enjoyed "Wonder" or books about kids standing together, they'll probably like this too.
