Quick Summary
If you've ever wished Shakespeare's comedies were easier to get into, this graphic novel version by Yomtov and Nel is a great starting point. The story follows a group of teenagers whose love lives get totally tangled up when meddling fairies in a magical forest decide to have a little fun with a love potion and accidentally make the wrong people fall for each other. It's funny, a little bit chaotic, and honestly pretty relatable for anyone who's ever dealt with confusing friendships or crushes. The graphic novel format makes the wild plot easy to follow, and the artwork brings the fairy chaos to life in a way that feels more silly than scary, which is perfect for middle graders. Kids who enjoy humor, light fantasy, or stories about friendship drama will probably zip through this one. Parents can feel good about the fact that it's introducing Shakespeare in a way that's actually fun, and there's enough action and jokes to keep reluctant readers turning pages. If your kid likes this, they'd probably also enjoy other graphic novel adaptations of Shakespeare, like the "Manga Shakespeare" series or the "Shakespeare Can Be Fun" books.
