Quick Summary

If your kid loved diving into fantastical worlds after reading *Back to the Divide*, this sequel is a must-pick. The story picks up with Felix and his friends dealing with Rhino the classic school bully who gets himself into serious trouble when he swipes a mysterious lamp and ends up kidnapped by a djinn demanding a favor. What I love about this book is how it balances genuinely funny moments (kids will giggle at Rhino getting his comeuppance) with some genuinely tense stakes, making it perfect for readers who like their adventure with a side of humor. The mystical, back-to-front world Elizabeth Kay created is imaginative and weird in the best way, giving kids plenty to picture while they read. It's a solid choice for middle graders who enjoy fantasy adventures like the Percy Jackson series but want something a bit lighter on their reading level, and it's especially good for kids who think they're "too cool" for chapter books because the humor and fast pacing keep things moving. Parents will appreciate that there's real heart underneath the silliness friendship, loyalty, and learning to do the right thing all show up naturally without feeling preachy. At around 80,000 words it's substantial enough to feel like a real accomplishment when finished, but the short chapters and playful tone make it totally doable for confident readers in 4th through 6th grade.
