Description

Back from a trip to Asgard, Demon, the official Beast Keeper of Mount Olympus, finds himself facing a fresh wave of trouble: a grumbling volcano monster and a herd of unicorns that are mysteriously ill. A cryptic note reading "Unicorn Emergency!" is the only clue he has to the source of the unicorns' ailment. With time running out, Demon must solve the puzzle, manage the erupting beast, and restore the unicorns before the crisis worsens.

Quick Summary

Lucy Coats knows how to pack a lot of silly chaos into a short book, and this one delivers with a groggy volcano monster, some mysteriously sick unicorns, and a demon who's definitely not having his best day back from Asgard. If your kid loves Greek and Norse mythology mixed with fantasy adventure (or just enjoys books where everything goes wrong in the funniest way possible), this one's got their name on it. The reading level sits a bit higher than the picture book age range suggests, so it works beautifully for younger kids who are strong readers or older reluctant readers who want something quick and punchy rather than thick and intimidating. There's a gentle heart underneath all the monsters and mayhem too Demon has to figure out what's really going on with those unicorns, which means some problem-solving and a few genuinely sweet moments amid the silliness. Parents will appreciate that it's light on scary stuff but still has enough drama (volcanoes! illness! danger!) to keep kids turning pages. If your kid's already into funny fantasy series like "The Last Kids on Earth" or Demon's earlier adventures, they'll feel right at home here, and the short length makes it perfect for kids who want to feel like they finished a "big" book without it taking forever.
