Description

Claire and Kaz discover strange noises in the treehouse where their club meets. They suspect a rival club might be trying to scare them away, but they also wonder if the sounds could be from the ghosts of Kaz's ancestors. The girls must solve this mystery to find out what's really going on in their secret spot.

Quick Summary

If your kid loves a good mystery with a friendly spooky twist, this one's a winner. The story follows a group of girls in a club who keep hearing strange noises and seeing weird things happening around their secret treehouse meeting spot, and they eventually realize they're sharing their hangout with an actual ghost. What makes it work so well for younger readers is that it's more silly-creepy than truly scary the ghost turns out to have a sweet reason for being there, and the mystery unfolds in a way that keeps kids guessing without giving them nightmares. It's a quick read at around 12,000 words, perfect for kids transitioning from picture books to chapter books, and the short chapters make it feel totally doable even for reluctant readers. Parents will appreciate that there's real heart underneath the fun mystery there's a mystery to solve, friendships to navigate, and a gentle lesson about not judging people (or ghosts!) before you know their story. Fans of the "G HOSTS OF ROCKY RIVER" series or anything from the "Waldo" mystery books will likely gravitate toward this one, and it's a great pick for kids who want something with a little thrill but still leaves them feeling warm and fuzzy at the end.
