Description

When a tiny duckling arrives on the farm, its nonstop "peep, peep, peep" keeps the entire barnyard awake. Duck and the other animals try every trick to get the little one to settle down, but the baby duck refuses to sleep. Farmer Brown must figure out how to calm the four-ounce puff of fluff before sunrise, and Duck may end up in hot water. The tale, written in short, rhythmic sentences, is a Level 2 Ready-to-Read.

Quick Summary

One of the things that makes "Click, Clack, Peep!" memorable is the way Doreen Cronin turns the classic bedtime struggle into a farm-yard comedy. The barnyard animals cows, sheep, and an especially stubborn duckling try everything from whispering to singing to get the little peeper to sleep, and each attempt ends with a hilariously loud "peep" that cracks kids up. It's perfect for kids who love animal stories with a lot of rhythm and repetition, especially those who are just starting to read on their own because the simple sentences and onomatopoeia make it easy to follow along. Parents will appreciate that the story is light-hearted, has no scary moments, and actually gives a gentle lesson about why sleep matters, making it a great pick for winding down after a busy day. If your child enjoys the silly teamwork of "Click, Clack, Moo," they'll find the same playful vibe here, and it's a nice companion to gentle bedtime books like "The Napping House."
