Description
After his grandfather dies under mysterious circumstances, sixteen-year-old Jacob Portman travels to a remote island to investigate the fantastical stories he heard as a child about Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. There he discovers a hidden, crumbling estate and meets a group of children with extraordinary abilities, some of whom can float, control fire, or manipulate shadows. As Jacob uncovers the truth behind his grandfather's past, he must confront a dangerous threat that puts both the children and his own life at risk. This graphic novel adaptation combines Riggs's haunting photographs with a gripping tale of mystery, survival, and the blurred line between legend and reality.
Quick Summary
If you've ever wished the original Miss Peregrine's story felt more alive on the page, this graphic novel delivers. The illustrations bring Ransom Riggs's vintage photographs to life in a way that makes the peculiar children feel genuinely magical and a little bit creepy at the same time there's a girl who floats, a boy with insects living inside him, and a child who can project nightmares into reality. The story follows Jacob as he uncovers what really happened to his grandfather and gets drawn into a world of hidden time loops and dangerous monsters called Hollowgasts. It's a fast read at around 10,000 words, which makes it perfect for reluctant readers or anyone who loves the concept of the series but wants something shorter and more visual. That said, parents should know there's some spooky violence and a couple of curse words scattered throughout, so it's best for kids who can handle mild horror. If your kid devoured the original novel or just wants a quick fantasy adventure with creepy-cute characters, this graphic novel is definitely worth picking up.
