Description

In 1870 Dakota Territory, the notorious gunslinger "Bloody" Chester Kates is hired to burn down the ghost-filled town of Whale so the Union Pacific can push its railroad westward. As Chester sets the town ablaze, he learns the rumors of a wicked presence are all too real, and he must face both the supernatural horror and the consequences of his own violent reputation. The story mixes frontier grit with a creeping sense of dread, painting a tense portrait of a man caught between corporate ambition and ancient fear. The novel contains profanity and graphic violence.

Quick Summary

If you're looking for a quick, fast-paced story that doesn't mess around, this one's set in 1870 Dakota Territory and follows a character named "Bloody" Chester Kates who's got one mission: burn down the town of Whale so the railroad can keep moving. The twist is that the town is supposedly haunted by something genuinely wicked, which makes Chester's task way more intense than just lighting matches. It's got some profanity and graphic violence, so it's better suited for older kids who can handle that edge, but at around 5,000 words, it's a short attention-grabber that reluctant readers can actually finish. Fans of Westerns with a dark, slightly supernatural edge will probably dig this the most. If someone enjoyed the quick, gritty storytelling in something like "The Glowing" by T.R. Simon, they'd likely find this hits a similar vibe.
