Quick Summary
If you're into steampunk, vampires, and werewolves with a sharp British wit, this one is a blast. Alexia is a soulless preternatural which basically means she's immune to supernatural powers and that makes her the perfect partner for the gruff, plaid-wearing Lord Maccon, who happens to be an earl and a werewolf. The two of them bicker their way through a murder mystery in Victorian London while trying to figure out why vampires are dropping like flies, and the tension between them is equal parts hilarious and romantic. It's a great pick for teens who loved *Pride and Prejudice and Zombies* or anyone who wants a light, snappy read with actual personality. That said, there are some romantic and implied sexual situations mixed into the witty banter, so it's probably best for older high schoolers rather than younger teens. The humor really carries the story if you like fast dialogue and a heroine who sasses vampires to their faces, Alexia won't disappoint.
