Description

When a car accident kills her father and leaves her disfigured, Jori is drawn into a living tapestry of dreams woven by the spider Arachnea. Inside this surreal world she discovers that her sister and two schoolmates have been trapped, and she must navigate its dangerous pathways to free them. The story blends fantasy with themes of loss, identity, and resilience as Jori confronts both the perils of the dream realm and her own inner scars.

Quick Summary

Dream Spinner is a fantasy adventure that sneaks up on you with surprising emotional depth beneath the magic. Jori's journey begins in tragedy she's still grieving her father's death and dealing with the way her scars have changed how she sees herself but when her sister and classmates get pulled into a living dream world woven by a spider named Arachnea, she has to dig deep to mount a rescue. The setting is vivid and a little creepy, full of shifting dreamscapes and spider magic, but there's also humor and warmth that keep it from getting too dark. If you've got a teen who loves stories where kids are brave despite feeling broken inside, or anyone who enjoys magical quests with real heart, this one's for them. Parents should know there's loss, injury, and some genuinely tense moments, but nothing feels gratuitous it all serves Jori's growth. It reminds me a bit of Holly Black's Tithe in tone, where fantasy grounds out in very human struggles, though Dream Spinner skews slightly younger in its approach.
