Description

Raven's little brother Cory is stuck without a Valentine, so she enlists their friend Eddie to teach him a few rap tricks for impressing the girls at school. Cory soon becomes the most popular boy in class, but his sudden confidence makes him rude to the one girl who truly cares for him, prompting Raven to step in and teach him a lesson. At the same time, Raven's own anxiety spikes when she has a vision of her boyfriend Devon with another girl, forcing her to confront jealousy and trust. The story mixes humor and heartfelt moments as it explores the misadventures of friendship, romance, and learning to treat others with respect.

Quick Summary

If you're looking for a quick, funny read that mixes sibling drama with a sweet (and slightly chaotic) Valentine's Day quest, this one's for you. Raven's well-meaning plan to set up her little brother turns into a hilarious lesson about humility when his ego gets out of hand, and the story takes a fun twist when she ends up sneaking around a sci-fi convention to spy on two friends. The humor feels natural for middle-grade readers, and the short chapters keep the pages turning, making it a good pick for reluctant readers who want something short but still full of personality. Parents will appreciate the wholesome message about treating others with respect, though there are a few mild jokes about crushes and a tiny bit of mild language that's typical for this age group. Kids who love funny series like "The Bad Guys" or enjoy the mix of romance and adventure in "The Princess in Black" will likely gravitate toward this one, and even though it's the twelfth book in the series, you can jump in without having read the earlier books and still follow the story.
